Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (8,162) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.
A total of (31,509) people have been arrested by the junta for opposing their arbitrary seizure of power. Of those arrested, (14,571) are confirmed to still be in detention, while (7,910) remain to be verified.
These are the numbers reported by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
According to the data collected by AAPP, from January 1 to July 15, 2026, the junta killed (20) people in total in Mandalay Region; (9) women and (11) men, including (4) children under the age of 18. The identities of these victims have been verified. Among them, (17) people were killed by the junta’s airstrikes, marking the highest cause of death. During the stated period in that region, the AAPP has also received information regarding the death of (93) civilians, as a result of junta attacks, whose identities have yet to be confirmed.
On June 5, junta forces from the Tada-U Air Force conducted an aerial bombing with jet fighter aircraft on Tha Yet Kaung Pin Village, Mahlaing Township, Mandalay Region, without any clashes occurring. A bomb exploded near a school in the village, instantly killing three students—Hein Htet, Kyaw Zin, and Shine Htet—along with two civilians, Hla Hla Win and Ye Shwe. Many others were also injured.
