Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (8,332) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.

A total of (31,852) people have been arrested by the junta for opposing their arbitrary seizure of power. Of those arrested, (14,765) are confirmed to still be in detention, while (7,871) remain to be verified.

These are the numbers reported by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.

The junta has been deliberately targeting civilians and committing serious human rights violations in various ways. In August, they also launched an offensive into villages, conducting airstrikes, shelling with artillery, burning down houses and abducting civilians as human shields.

In Yinmarbin Township, Sagaing Region, junta forces burned down civilian homes in Hnaw Pin, Kyun Paw and Kyauk Kone Villages. At least 10 men from Sone Chaung Village were abducted by them as human shields. In addition, in Myaing Township, Magway Region, airstrikes were conducted in addition to launching an offensive into villages.

As a result, according to reports on the ground, thousands of villagers from at least 30 villages in Yinmarbin and Kani Townships, Sagaing Region, and Myaing Township, Magway Region, are in urgent need of shelter and food aid during this rainy season.
