Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (8,420) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.

A total of (31,965) people have been arrested by the junta for opposing their arbitrary seizure of power. Of those arrested, (14,840) are confirmed to still be in detention, while (7,857) remain to be verified.

These are the numbers reported by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.

According to data collected by AAPP, from July 1 to September 23, 2026, the junta killed (57) people in total in Rakhine State; (30) women and (27) men, including (9) children under the age of 18. The youngest recorded death was a three-year-old boy. The identities of these victims have been verified. Among them, (53) people were killed by the junta’s airstrikes, marking the highest cause of death. (2) were killed by the junta’s artillery strikes, (1) was killed after being detained by the junta, and (1) was killed by the junta’s gunfire.

On the morning of September 20, junta forces opened fire with heavy weaponry on villages in Rathedaung Township, Rakhine State. The shells exploded in the yard of a house in Zee Kaing Village. The bomb shrapnel instantly killed an elderly woman and her daughter.
