Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (8,476) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.
A total of (32,034) people have been arrested by the junta for opposing their arbitrary seizure of power. Of those arrested, (14,910) are confirmed to still be in detention, while (7,779) remain to be verified.
These are the numbers reported by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
According to the data collected by AAPP, from January 1 to September 30, 2026, (325) people in total; (145) women and (180) men, were killed in mass killings where five or more than five people were killed by the junta across the country, including (70) children under the age of 18. These are the numbers that have been verified. Among the (325) deaths, Rakhine State recorded the highest number of fatalities, totaling (89), followed by (66) people in Sagaing State. Among the (325) deaths, (274) people were killed by the junta’s airstrikes, marking the highest cause of death.
On September 5, junta forces stationed in Ta Khun Taing Village, Kyaukkyi Township, Bago Region, carried out a drone bombing on Boke Su Khin Village in Phyu Township. As a result, six civilians, including one under the age of 18, were killed from bomb shrapnel.
