Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

According to AAPP documentation, at least (709) houses and buildings have been sealed off by Junta between February 2021 and July 2022.
Since the February 1, 2021 military coup and the emergence of the Spring Revolution, a total of (2158) people, pro-democracy activists and other civilians have been killed through military crackdown following pro-democracy movements. AAPP compiled and documented (1) fallen hero today. This (1) fallen hero, from Dawei Township in Tanintharyi Region, was killed on a previous day, but documented today.
Since the coup, up until August 5, 2022, a total of (11925) people are currently under detention and (1375) are serving sentences. There are a total of 77 post-coup death row prisoners as of August 5, 2022. (121) people have been sentenced in absentia, of whom (42) have been sentenced to death. This makes a total of (119) who have been sentenced to death. (22) people have been released on bail and (3075) people have already been released. These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
Soe Myint, a civilian from Bommaw Ward, Dawei Township in Tanintharyi Region, was detained by junta forces on August 4, at around 10 PM. In the early morning of August 5, Soe Myint’s body was found on Yangon-Dawei Road near Zayar Village, Dawei Township with a gunshot wound on his temple, along with injuries indicating he was attacked.
AAPP will continue to inform on verified daily arrests, charges, sentences and fatalities in relation to the attempted coup, and update the lists with details of these alleged offences.
