Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

According to AAPP documentation, at least (678) houses and buildings have been sealed off by Junta between February 2021 and June 2022.  

Since the February 1, 2021 military coup and the emergence of the Spring Revolution, a total of  (2099) people, pro-democracy activists and other civilians have been killed through military crackdown following pro-democracy movements. AAPP compiled and documented (7) fallen heroes today. These (7) fallen heroes, from Tangyan Township in Shan State, Hlaingtharya Township in Yangon Region, Palaw Townnship in Tanintharyi Region and Ayadaw Township in Sagaing Region, were killed on previous days, but documented today. This is the number verified by AAPP. The actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.              

As of July 20, 2022, a total of (11743) people are currently under detention. (1344) are serving sentences, of them (76) have been sentenced to death. (120) people have been sentenced in absentia, of whom (41) have been sentenced to death. This makes a total of (117) who have been sentenced to death. (22) people have been released on bail and (3047) people have already been released.     

At around 2 AM on July 19, No. 285 Battalion based in Palaw fired with heavy weaponry at Peinne Taung Village, Palaw Township, Tanintharyi Region. One of the artillery shells landed on a house and killed a local named Zin Wine. 

On July 18, Pyae Sone Oo, from Sein Thar Village, Ayadaw Township, Sagaing Region, was driving on a motorbike by Ayadaw-Wadawma Road and refused to stop when junta forces tried to pull him over near Kwae Chan Village. The junta troops fatally shot him, and his body was disposed of on the side of the road. Junta forces also confiscated his motorbike and phone. Pyae Sone Oo was returning to the village when he was shot in the chest and thigh.
