Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

According to AAPP documentation, at least (617) houses and buildings have been sealed off by the Junta since the 2021 coup up until May 2022.  

As of June 3, 2022, (1887) people are now confirmed killed by this junta coup. AAPP compiled and documented (4) fallen heroes today. These (4) fallen heroes from Kyauktaga Township in Bago Region, Kyainseikgyi Township in Kayin State, Loikaw Township in Kayah State and Hpakant Township in Kachin State were killed on previous days and documented today. This is the number verified by AAPP. The actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue adding as and when.              

As of June 3, 2022, a total of (10903) people are currently under detention. (1100) people have been sentenced in person, of them 73 have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). (120) people have been sentenced in absentia, of them 41 sentenced to death in absentia. In total (114) sentenced to death, in person and absentia. (21) people have been released on bail and (3035) people were already released.     

On May 28, at around 11 PM, NLD member Saw Tha Phwe (aka) Bin Lar Din, who lived in Phado Town, Kyauktaga Township, Bago Region, was arrested  and beaten by the armed wing of the junta. 2 days later, his family was informed of his passing. He had been on the run for a long time and got captured when he went home to see his wife who had severe health issues.

On May 29, at around 3 PM, the armed wing of the junta, stationed in Kha Lae-Tagon Daing Area Police Station, Kyainseikgyi Township, Kayin State, opened fire on Nan Thaing Htun Village using heavy weaponry. As a result, Zin Oo was killed while cooking in her house, and her 7-year old daughter got wounded on the cheek by the artillery fire.

AAPP will continue to inform on verified daily arrests, charges, sentences and fatalities in relation to the attempted coup, and update the lists with details of these alleged offenses.
