Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

According to AAPP documentation, at least (440) houses and buildings have been sealed off by the Junta since the 2021 coup up until February 2022.

As of March 22, 2022, (1697) people are now confirmed killed by this junta coup. AAPP compiled and documented (2) fallen heroes today. These (2) fallen heroes from Yinmarbin Township in Sagaing Region were killed on March 16 and documented today. This is the number verified by AAPP. The actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue adding as and when.      

As of March 22, 2022, a total of (9835) people are currently under detention. (868) people have been sentenced in person, of them 52 have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). 1973 are evading arrest warrants. 118 people have been sentenced in absentia, of them 39 sentenced to death in absentia. In total 91 sentenced to death, in person and absentia. The exact identities and total figure remains to be verified, but we will continue to confirm the recently released.    

In the early morning of March 19, Nga Pyar, who suffers from mental illness, was shot to death in the chest when the armed wing of the Junta raided Nga Pa Yin Village, in Sagaing Region’s Budalin Township.

On March 16, Thein Linn, aged 20 years old, living in Kwe Chaung Village, in Sagaing Region’s Yinmarbin Township, was shot dead by military soldiers in a creek near the five-mile toll gate on the Monywa-Yargyi Road. That same day, Thein Naing, aged 45 years old, living in Let Pan Village in Yinmarbin Township, was also shot to death in the head near the lake which is located east of Let Pan Village by the armed wing of the Junta. 

AAPP will continue to inform on verified daily arrests, charges, sentences and fatalities in relation to the attempted coup, and update the lists with details of these alleged offenses.
