Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

As of February 10, (1546) people are now confirmed killed by this junta coup. AAPP compiled and documented (6) fallen heroes today. These (6) fallen heroes Pale Township, Ye-u Township and Khin-u Township in Sagaing Region, Hpakant Township in Kachin State and Kyaukme Township in Shan State were killed on previous days and documented today. This is the number verified by AAPP. The actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue adding as and when.  

As of February 10, a total of (9067) people are currently under detention. (691) people have been sentenced in person, of them 45 have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). 1974 are evading arrest warrants. 118 people have been sentenced in absentia, of them 39 sentenced to death in absentia. In total 84 sentenced to death, in person and absentia. The exact identities and total figure remains to be verified, but we will continue to confirm the recently released.   

On February 8, a member of All Burma Federation of Student Unions (ABFSU), named Wai Phyo Aung a.k.a BA, who is a second year student majoring in Burmese Language from Myingyan University (Mandalay Region), was sentenced to six years imprisonment by the special court in Obo Prison. On September 24, 2021, he was arrested with the former chairman of the Students’ Union in Yangon University of Education, named Soe Thura Kyaw a.k.a Poet Thar Shar. 

On the midnight of February 2, Sai Tun Tun Win was arrested at his home by eight agents, part of the Junta troops, police and the household administrator, in Ti Lin Ward in Shan State’s Kyaukme Township. On February 3, at around 9 pm, he died at the hospital due to torture wounds inflicted during interrogation. He had bruises all over his body and his skull was crushed.

AAPP will continue to inform on verified daily arrests, charges, sentences and fatalities in relation to the attempted coup, and update the lists with details of these alleged offenses.
