Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

As of February 1, (1507) people are now confirmed killed by this junta coup. AAPP compiled and documented (4) fallen heroes today. These (4) fallen heroes from Myitkyina Township in Kachin State, Bago Township in Bago Region and Khin-u Township in Sagaing Region were killed today and previous days and documented today. This is the number verified by AAPP. The actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue adding as and when.  

As of February 1, a total of (8899) people are currently under detention. (664) people have been sentenced in person, of them 45 have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). 1972 are evading arrest warrants. 118 people have been sentenced in absentia, of them 39 sentenced to death in absentia. In total 84 sentenced to death, in person and absentia. The exact identities and total figure remains to be verified, but we will continue to confirm the recently released.

After a bomb exploded at No.30 police battalion in Lel Kone Ward, in Kachin State’s Myitkyina Township, on the morning of February 1, the junta police opened fire indiscriminately. As a result, Bhone Khant Htal, aged 7 years old, was shot dead in the chest while he was at home, located next to this police battalion. The bullet penetrated the wall of the house and hit Bhone Khant Htal.

On January 31, 2022, Chit Chit Tun, a pregnant woman who would have given birth during these days, was shot in the chest by the military at the top of the Innwin street in Nan Taw Yar Ward, Bago City (Bago Region),  at around 9:30 pm., and died at the hospital. She owned the Seafood and Steak Restaurant placed at the top of Innwin street. 

AAPP will continue to inform on verified daily arrests, charges, sentences and fatalities in relation to the attempted coup, and update the lists with details of these alleged offenses.
