Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

As of 21 July, (929) people are now confirmed killed by this junta coup. AAPP compiled and documented (7) fallen heroes today. These (7) fallen heroes from Momauk Township in Kachin State, Htandabin Township in Bago Region and Kalay Township in Sagaing Region were killed the previous days and documented today. This is the number verified by AAPP, the actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue adding as and when.

As of July 21, a total of (5323) people are currently under detention. (255) people have been sentenced in person, of them 26 have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). 1963 are evading arrest warrants. 118 people have been sentenced in absentia, of them 39 sentenced to death in absentia. In total 65 sentenced to death, in person and absentia. We are also continuing to verify the recently released detainees. 

On July 20, Su Su Htay, a 2nd-year university student Kaung Myat Naing, and an 8th-grade student May Htoo Naing. The wife, son and daughter of Kyaw Soe Naing, MP for Nganzun Township of Mandalay Region, were arrested at Shwe-Kyar-Inn Monastery in Myittha Township when the terrorist junta could not find Kyaw Soe Naing there. Moreover, San San Maw, who is involved in Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM), and lived with the family, was also arrested. In addition to this, Chit Naing, a 1st-year distance education student majoring in Geography at Dawei University, was followed and arrested by the terrorist junta wearing plain clothes in Dawei City, Tanintharyi Region on July 20.
