Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

As of 8 July, (898) people are now confirmed killed by this junta coup. AAPP compiled and documented (1) fallen hero today. This (1) fallen hero from Waimaw Township in Kachin State was killed yesterday and documented today. This is the number verified by AAPP, the actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue adding as and when.

As of July 8, a total of (5127) people are currently under detention.  (247) people have been sentenced in person, of them 26 have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). 1963 are evading arrest warrants. 118 people have been sentenced in absentia, of them 39 sentenced to death in absentia. Total 65 sentenced to death, in person and absentia. We are also continuing to verify the recently released detainees.

On the night of July 6, Aye Min Thein, who is the father of Aung Khant Hphone, Hlegu Township student union member, was arrested when the terrorist junta did not find Aung Khant Hphone at his home in Yangon Region’s Hlegu Township. Maung Maung and Kyi Thar Maung Maung, the father and younger brother of Khin Marlar Maung Maung, Constituency 2 Regional MP of Hlegu Township in Yangon Region, were arrested by the terrorist junta on the night of July 6.
