Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (7,966) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.
A total of (30,820) people have been arrested by the junta in connection with opposition to the arbitrary seizure of power. Of those arrested, (14,334) are confirmed to still be in detention, while (7,889) remain to be verified.
These are the numbers verified by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
According to the data collected by AAPP, from February 1 to April 7, 2026, (53) children in total, under the age of 18; (27) girls and (26) boys, were killed by the junta across the country. This includes a two-month-old boy. The identities of these individuals have been verified. Among these deaths, Bago Region records the highest number of fatalities, totaling (22) individuals. (8) people were killed in Rakhine State. Meanwhile, (29) people were killed by the junta’s airstrikes, marking the highest cause of death.
On April 1, the military junta carried out an aerial bombing attack near the former Infantry Battalion No. 55 base in Thandwe Township, Rakhine State. Four internally displaced persons from Tu Myaung Village in Kyauktaw Township had fled to the area seeking safety, including two young girls. As a result of the strike, they were killed instantly from the bomb shrapnel.
