Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (7,842) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.

Since the coup, a total of (30,531) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (22,819) are currently in detention, (11,579) of whom are serving sentences.

These are the numbers verified by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.

According to the data collected by AAPP, from January 1 to February 27, 2026, the junta killed (94) men in total across the country, including (12) boys under the age of 18. The youngest recorded death was a two month old boy. These are the numbers that have been verified. Among them, Sagaing Region records the highest number of fatalities, with (25) men killed, followed by (16) in Rakhine State. During the stated period, the AAPP has also received information regarding the death of (76) men, as a result of junta attacks, whose identities have yet to be confirmed.

On February 9, a military column launched an offensive into villages in Kyaikto Township, Mon State. At that time, they shot dead Kyet Ou, a local of Ah Khaik Village.
