Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (8,399) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.

A total of (31,948) people have been arrested by the junta for opposing their arbitrary seizure of power. Of those arrested, (14,829) are confirmed to still be in detention, while (7,875) remain to be verified.

These are the numbers reported by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.

According to the data collected by AAPP, from July 1 to September 18, 2026, the junta killed (137) men in total across the country, including (17) boys under the age of 18. These are the numbers that have been verified. Among them, Magway Region records the highest number of fatalities, with (37) men killed, followed by (29) in Sagaing State. Among the (137) deceased, (78) men were killed by the junta’s airstrikes, recording the highest cause of death. During the stated period, the AAPP has also received information regarding the death of (70) men, as a result of junta attacks, whose identities have yet to be confirmed.

On September 16, at approximately 12:30 p.m., junta forces from Meiktila Air Force conducted an aerial bombing using jet fighter aircraft on a monastery in Hna Ma Sar Yit Village, Shwebo Township, Sagaing Region. A bomb exploded in the monastery compound where an opening ceremony for a water purification system was taking place. As a result, Abbot Pyinyarthiri and two elderly men, Aung Tint and Tin Tun, were killed from bomb shrapnel. Moreover, Myint Aung, one of the several other civilians injured, died on September 17 while receiving medical treatment.
