Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (8,289) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.
A total of (31,792) people have been arrested by the junta for opposing their arbitrary seizure of power. Of those arrested, (14,725) are confirmed to still be in detention, while (7,865) remain to be verified.
These are the numbers reported by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
According to the data collected by AAPP, from July 1 to August 18, 2026, (140) people in total; (53) women and (87) men, were killed by the junta across the country, including (18) children under the age of 18. The identities of these victims have been verified. Among these deaths, Rakhine State recorded the highest number of fatalities, totaling (46), followed by (40) people in Magway Region. During the stated period, the AAPP has also received information regarding the death of (87) civilians, as a result of junta attacks, whose identities have yet to be confirmed.
On August 15, junta forces launched an offensive into Saw Township, Magway region, and carried out a drone bombing, instantly killing three internally displaced persons from Thee Kone Village—Mya Win, Htay Htay Win, and Nan Myaing—due to bomb shrapnel, and injuring another civilian.
