Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (8,239) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.

A total of (31,686) people have been arrested by the junta for opposing their arbitrary seizure of power. Of those arrested, (14,647) are confirmed to still be in detention, while (7,863) remain to be verified.

These are the numbers reported by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.

According to data collected by AAPP, from July 1 to 31, 2026, (15) people in total; (6) women and (9) men, were killed by the junta in Bago Region, including (3) children under the age of 18. The identities of these victims have been verified. Among them, (11) people were killed by the junta’s airstrikes, marking the highest cause of death. During the stated period in the Bago region, the AAPP has also received information regarding the death of (2) civilians, as a result of junta attacks, whose identities have yet to be confirmed.

On July 23, at approximately 10:30 a.m., junta forces stationed at the Ah Lel Kone Police Station opened fire with heavy weaponry at villages in Gyobingauk Township, Bago Region. The shells exploded in Yone Chaung Village, resulting in a local named Moe Thidar getting struck by shrapnel and sustaining severe injuries. She was subsequently transferred to Yangon General Hospital for treatment. She later died on July 25 while receiving medical care.
