Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup
Date – 3 February 2026
Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (7,747) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.
Since the coup, a total of (30,387) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (22,793) are currently in detention, (11,522) of whom are serving sentences.
These are the numbers verified by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
According to the data collected by AAPP, from January 1 to February 3, 2026, the junta killed (16) people in total in Bago Region; (8) women and (8) men, including (1) child under the age of 18. These are the numbers that have been verified. Among these deaths, (12) people were killed by the junta’s airstrikes marking the highest cause of death. The other (4) were killed by the junta’s artillery strikes.
On January 25, junta forces conducted an aerial bombing using a fighter jet from the junta forces’ Taungoo Air Force. The explosion took place in Kwee Lar Village, Kyaukkyi Township, Bago Region and the bomb shrapnel killed Saw Eh Law La Moo, a 7-year-old boy.
