Since the February 1, 2021 coup, a total of (4,242) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution. In addition to the total fatality figure, AAPP has documented around (500) deceased persons whose names are unknown and still need to be verified.

Since the coup, a total of (25,509) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power, (19,721) are currently in detention, (8,269) of whom are serving sentences.

There are a total of (120) post-coup death row prisoners as of December 6, 2023. (119) people have been sentenced in absentia, of whom (43) have been sentenced to death. This makes a total of (163) people who have been sentenced to death. (5,788) people have already been released.

These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.

According to the data collected by the AAPP, from January to December 6, 2023, (21) women and (51) men; (72) people in total, have been given prison sentences under specious charges by courts subservient to the junta and are still detained in prisons in Ayeyarwady Region. Among (72) sentences, there are (8) people who have been sentenced to the death penalty.

On November 30, the special court inside Pathein Prison sentenced Chit Su Tun (‌aka Chit Pu) from Pathein Town in Ayeyarwady Region to serve 22 years in prison under Sections 52, 54 of the Counter-Terrorism Law and Section 505 (b) of the Penal Code. Chit Su Tun (‌aka Chit Pu) was charged for allegedly supporting CDM staff and PDFs, and for having an affiliation with the explosion in Pathein Township. She was arrested by junta forces and police at her house in June 2023.
