According to monitoring by the Documentation and Research Department of AAPP, in recent weeks, clashes are still occurring between junta forces and the Arakan Army (AA) in Rakhine State. The junta forces have been capturing local civilians under various pretenses and firing artillery shells, resulting in numerous casualties and deaths. Moreover, on November 24, an artillery shell fired by the junta’s navy exploded in Ponnagyun Town, Rakhine State, causing the destruction of shops in Myoma Market from the resulting fire.
The junta’s air force also dropped bombs on civilian areas and hospitals in Demoso Township in Kayah State, Namhkan Town in Shan State, and Indaw Township in Sagaing Region, resulting in many civilians getting injured and destroying numerous houses and the hospital. On November 25, junta forces carried out an aerial bombing on Yae Twin Kone Village in Phyu Township, Bago Region, killing two women around the age of 60 and injuring many locals.
Since the military coup to this day, the junta has been using excessive force to carry out crackdowns on peaceful protests. On November 25, an anti-junta protest took place at a market in No.40 Ward, Dagon Myothit (North) Township, Yangon Region. Then, junta forces arrived at the market in large numbers and carried out the destruction of the market in the evening of that day and morning of November 26.
AAPP will continue to inform on verified daily arrests, charges, sentences, and fatalities in relation to the attempted coup, and update the lists with details of these alleged offenses.
