These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
According to the data collected by AAPP, from February 2021 to September 12, 2023, (612) women have been killed by the junta across the country, with Sagaing Region recording the highest number of deaths, totalling (285) within the region. (106) women were killed between February and December in 2021, (236) women were killed in 2022 and (270) women were killed from January to September 12, 2023.
On August 27, as Do Deih Huai (aka Huai Boih) and her friend were going to Kale Town on their motorcycle, junta forces stopped the motorcycle and inspected them for supposed security. The friends were both from Pyi Taw Thar Village, located in Kale Township, Sagaing Region. The junta troops unreasonably beat and tortured them until they bled, and later released both after seizing their motorcycle, phones, and purses. Despite the release, Do Deih Huai (aka Huai Boih) had blood coming out of her ears the following day and lost consciousness. She was taken to the Kale Town Hospital and died on September 5, due to her injuries.
AAPP will continue to inform on verified daily arrests, charges, sentences, and fatalities in relation to the attempted coup, and update the lists with details of these alleged offenses.
