Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the February 1, 2021 coup, a total of (4,023) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.
Since the coup, a total of (24,586) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power, (19,901) are currently in detention, (7,210) of whom are serving sentences.
There are a total of (102) post-coup death row prisoners as of August 31, 2023. (119) people have been sentenced in absentia, of whom (43) have been sentenced to death. This makes a total of (145) people who have been sentenced to death. (4,685) people have already been released.
These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
According to data collected by AAPP, from August 1 to 31, 2023, (18) women and (76) men; (94) people in total, have been killed by the junta across the country, with Sagaing Region recording the highest number of fatalities, with (42) victims in the region alone.
In addition, during the stated period, (28) women and (58) men; (86) people in total have been arrested by the junta across the country, with Mandalay Region recording the highest number of arrests with (22) people apprehended.
Moreover, (23) women and (64) men; (87) people in total, have been given prison sentences under specious charges by courts subservient to the junta across the country during the stated period. Sagaing Region contains the highest number of sentences with (65) victims of injustice.
