Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the February 1, 2021 coup and the emergence of the Spring Revolution, a total of (3,747) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians have been killed through military crackdowns against the pro-democracy movement.
Since the coup, a total of (23,747) people were arrested and among them, (19,377) are currently under detention, (6,662) of whom are serving sentences. There are a total of (115) post-coup death row prisoners as of July 5, 2023. (122) people have been sentenced in absentia, of whom (43) have been sentenced to death. This makes a total of (158) people who have been sentenced to death. (4,370) people have already been released.
These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
According to data collected by AAPP, from February 2021 to July 5, 2023, (147) people in Tanintharyi Region were killed by the junta. Of the (147) victims, (96) of them were killed by gunshot, while (44) of them were killed in detainment. Moreover, (1,612) people were arrested in Tanintharyi Region, and (555) of them were served prison sentences under specious charges.
On July 2, at around 3 pm, junta forces arrested Win Naing from Pulotontone Village, Aye Myint and his wife from Semaing Village at their homes in Kawthoung Township, Tanintharyi Region. The trio were detained for alleged contact with the PDF.
