Since the February 1, 2021 coup and the emergence of the Spring Revolution, a total of (3,662) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians have been killed through military crackdowns against the pro-democracy movement.

Since the coup, a total of (23,350) people were arrested and among them, (19,010) are currently under detention, (6,389) of whom are serving sentences. There are a total of (115) post-coup death row prisoners as of June 15, 2023. (121) people have been sentenced in absentia, of whom (42) have been sentenced to death. This makes a total of (157) people who have been sentenced to death. (4,341) people have already been released.

These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.

According to the data collected by the AAPP, from February 2021 to June 15, 2023, (536) women have died across the country under the junta’s repressive and illegitimate administration, with Sagaing Region recording the highest number of deaths, totalling (250) within the region. (106) women have died between February 2021 – December 2021, (238) women have died in 2022 and (192) women died since January 2023, until the second week of June 2023. Among the (536) women, (147) women were killed due to artillery attacks and (99) women were killed by airstrikes.

On June 9, at around 3 p.m., junta forces fired artillery shells at Yay Le Oo Village in Kale Township, Sagaing Region. As a result, the locals fled into nearby jungles seeking refuge. During the evacuation process, an artillery shrapnel struck Mee Hla in the stomach, killing her instantly.
