Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the February 1, 2021 coup and the emergence of the Spring Revolution, a total of (3,604) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians have been killed through military crackdowns against the pro-democracy movement.
Since the coup, a total of (22,894) people were arrested and among them, (18,574) are currently under detention, (6,161) of whom are serving sentences. There are a total of (114) post-coup death row prisoners as of June 1, 2023. (121) people have been sentenced in absentia, of whom (42) have been sentenced to death. This makes a total of (156) people who have been sentenced to death. (4,320) people have already been released.
These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
According to information gathered today, on the afternoon of May 28, junta forces fired artillery shells at Kha Name Moo Extension Ward, No. 7 Ward in Kawkareik Town, Kayin State; resulting in the death of two people people who were identified as Phoe Kyar and Khin Myat Htwe. They were returning home on their motorbike at the time of the attack. They were killed as artillery shrapnel hit Phoe Kyar on the head and thigh, and Khin Myat Htwe was struck by shrapnel on her neck, hands and legs.
In addition to this, on the morning of May 27, over 100 junta personnel opened fire at Sel Zin Kone Village in Thabeikkyin Township, Mandalay Region using various weapons. As a result, a local identified as Kyaw Zaw Linn was killed due to shrapnel striking his head. Additionally, a 3-year-old was injured.
