Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the February 1, 2021 coup and the emergence of the Spring Revolution, a total of (3,576) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians have been killed through military crackdowns against the pro-democracy movement.
Since the coup, a total of (22,715) people were arrested and among them, (18,396) are currently under detention, (6,096) of whom are serving sentences. There are a total of (114) post-coup death row prisoners as of May 25, 2023. (121) people have been sentenced in absentia, of whom (42) have been sentenced to death. This makes a total of (156) people who have been sentenced to death. (4,319) people have already been released.
These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
According to information gathered today, on the morning of May 24, junta forces raided and set fire to Ma Kyee Su Village, Myingyan Township, Mandalay Region. Khin Maung Htay, who had previously suffered from a stroke, and 60-year-old Aye Kyaing, were killed in the fire as they were unable to escape and remained in the village.
In addition to this, on the afternoon of May 23, an immigration office in Launglon Town, Tanintharyi Region was attacked. In the town that evening, junta forces entered the houses of locals Thet Thet Aye and her husband Myat Thu; Hlaing Nay Oo from (Ka) Ward and Swe Zin Htet from (Kha) Ward. They were arrested and were being interrogated at Launglon Myoma Police Station.
