Since the coup, a total of (22,531) people were arrested and among them, (18,218) are currently under detention, (5,990) of whom are serving sentences. There are a total of (114) post-coup death row prisoners as of May 19, 2023. (121) people have been sentenced in absentia, of whom (42) have been sentenced to death. This makes a total of (156) people who have been sentenced to death. (4,313) people have already been released.

These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.

According to information gathered today, on the morning of May 18, around 150 junta personnel raided Kan Thar Kone Village, Shwebo Township, Sagaing Region, and set fire to houses. They took nearly 50 locals, including children, as human shields. They were taken to Bo Te Kone Monastery in Nyaung Pin Thar Village.

In addition to this, on May 12, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., around 50 junta personnel fired heavy weaponry indiscriminately while attacking Mohnyin Township, Kachin State. As a result, an artillery shell exploded on a house in Nam Mar Town, and Sein Win died from getting struck by the artillery shell shrapnel.

AAPP will continue to inform on verified daily arrests, charges, sentences, and fatalities in relation to the attempted coup, and update the lists with details of these alleged offenses.
