Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the February 1, 2021, military coup and the emergence of the Spring Revolution, a total of (3,447) people, including pro-democracy activists and other civilians, have been killed through military crackdowns against the pro-democracy movement.
It is verified today that one detainee in prisons has been sentenced to death on March 31, 2023. Since the coup, a total of (21,632) people were arrested and among them (17,726) are currently under detention, (5,724) of whom are serving sentences. There are a total of (111) post-coup death row prisoners as of April 28, 2023. (121) people have been sentenced in absentia, of whom (42) have been sentenced to death. This makes a total of (153) people who have been sentenced to death. (3,906) people have already been released.
These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
According to information gathered today, on the morning of April 27, without any clash taking place, junta forces based in Pekon Town fired heavy weaponry at Nga Mu and Nyaung Mun Villages, which are east of Pekon Township, Shan State. As a result, five civilians were injured.
In addition, on the afternoon of April 25, without any clash taking place, junta forces carried out an aerial bombing with a fighter plane on a hospital in Saung Hpway Village in Pekon Township, Shan State. The hospital was providing treatment for internally displaced people and civilians. As a result of the bombing, four locals were injured, and the hospital was destroyed.
