Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the February 1, 2021, military coup and the emergence of the Spring Revolution, a total of (3,194) people, including pro-democracy activists and other civilians, have been killed through military crackdowns against the pro-democracy movement.
Since the coup, a total of (17,075) people are currently under detention, (5,274) of whom are serving sentences. There are a total of (108) post-coup death row prisoners as of March 31, 2023. (121) people have been sentenced in absentia, of whom (42) have been sentenced to death. This makes a total of (150) people who have been sentenced to death. (3,843) people have already been released.
These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
According to information gathered today, on March 30, Mayangone Township Court sentenced 18-year-old Su Thon Paing, a member of No. 2 Mayangone High School Students’ Union (All Burma Federation of Student Unions), to serve three years in prison under Section 505 A of the Penal Code. She is a high school student and junta forces arrested her on October 26, 2022.
In addition, on the morning of March 30, junta forces aerial bombed Khuafo Village in Thantlang Township, Chin State, with fighter planes. The bombing killed eight locals, including a child under the age of 10. The names of the deceased were Nu Ngun Dawt, Nu Sung Hlei, Nu Len Zi, Mah Khin Nu, Pa Siang Cung Bik, Pa Van Duh, Pa Kep Lian, and Pa Cung Hlei.
