Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the February 1, 2021, military coup and the emergence of the Spring Revolution, a total of (3,166) people, including pro-democracy activists and other civilians, have been killed through military crackdowns against the pro-democracy movement.

Since the coup, a total of (17,009) people are currently under detention, (5,228) of whom are serving sentences. There are a total of (108) post-coup death row prisoners as of March 27, 2023. (121) people have been sentenced in absentia, of whom (42) have been sentenced to death. This makes a total of (150) people who have been sentenced to death. (3,844) people have already been released. 

These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.

According to information gathered today, on March 24, when junta forces raided Palaw Kone Village Tract in Palaw Township, Tanintharyi Region, a clash ensued with the local PDFs. Then on March 25, junta forces detained and killed Tin Oo, a local villager. Moreover, a local of Nat Eain Taung Village, Palaw Township,  Myo Min Thu ran into the junta forces seeking refuge and was shot dead.

In addition, on March 23, at around 4 p.m, approximately 150 junta personnel raided Nyaung Zin Gyi Village in Htan Kone Rural Area, Kanbalu Township, Sagaing Region. Junta troops then burned alive and killed mentally-unwell Tun Min Oo. They also set fire to 32 houses, 17 motorbikes, along with farming equipment and grain.

AAPP will continue to inform on verified daiy arrests, charges, sentences, and fatalities in relation to the attempted coup, and update the lists with details of these alleged offenses.
