Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the February 1, 2021, military coup and the emergence of the Spring Revolution, a total of (3,022) people, including pro-democracy activists and other civilians, have been killed through military crackdowns following pro-democracy movements.
Since the coup, a total of (15,979) people are currently under detention, (4,510) of whom are serving sentences. There are a total of (103) post-coup death row prisoners as of February 22, 2023. (120) people have been sentenced in absentia, of whom (41) have been sentenced to death. This makes a total of (144) people who have been sentenced to death. (24) people have been released on bail, and (3,833) people have already been released. These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
According to information gathered by AAPP, at around 6 a.m. on February 17, around 200 junta personnel raided Thae Daw Village in Yesagyo Township, Magway Region, and arrested Pay and Cho as hostages. Pay and Cho were members of the Urban Underground Revolution Force of Yesagyo. Taking Pay and Cho with them, the junta forces went to raid a small Yesagyo PDF lookout, located a mile from Thae Daw Village. While raiding the lookout, the junta forces were attacked by a PDF mine. Pay and Cho escaped during the mine attack. However, they were re-arrested and shot dead by the junta. Their bodies were burned at the raided PDF lookout.
In addition, on February 20, indiscriminate gunfire by junta forces killed Paing Thet Kyaw and Pauk. They were residents of Pint Thar Li Village in Yedashe Township, Bago Region.
