Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

According to AAPP documentation, at least (900) houses and buildings have been sealed off by the junta between February 2021 and November 2022.
Since the February 1, 2021, military coup and the emergence of the Spring Revolution, a total of (2639) people, pro-democracy activists and other civilians have been killed through military crackdowns following pro-democracy movements.
Since the coup, a total of (13,098) people are currently under detention, (1765) of whom are serving sentences. There are a total of (97) post-coup death row prisoners as of December 21, 2022. (121) people have been sentenced in absentia, of whom (42) have been sentenced to death. This makes a total of (139) people who have been sentenced to death. (24) people have been released on bail and (3452) people have already been released. These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
On December 6, 2022, Crime Media Group reporter Daw Tin Nwe Tun (aka Janimar) was arrested with her 7-month-old daughter, by the armed wing of the junta. They were arrested in Mayan Chaung Middle ward, Mokepalin Village, Kyaikto Township, Mon State, where they lived. After their arrest, they were detained at the Kyaikto Township police station, where Daw Tin Nwe Tun was interrogated and tortured. She has been charged under Counter-Terrorism Law S:52 (a). As of now, no proper medical treatment has been made available for Daw Tin Nwe Tun’s wounds or for her seven month old daughter’s rashes.
On December 19, 2022, U San Lwin, an advocate from Bogale township, Ayeyarwady Region, and eight others, most of whom are NLD members, were sentenced to two years in prison. They were sentenced under Section 505 A of the Penal Code, by a special court in Pyapon prison. All nine sentenced were arrested for allegedly participating in protests in 2021.
