Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

According to AAPP documentation, at least (786) houses and buildings have been sealed off by the junta between February 2021 and October 2022.
Since the February 1, 2021, military coup and the emergence of the Spring Revolution, a total of (2546) people, pro-democracy activists and other civilians have been killed through military crackdowns following pro-democracy movements.
Since the coup, a total of (12990) people are currently under detention, (1626) of whom are serving sentences. There are a total of (86) post-coup death row prisoners as of November 28, 2022. (121) people have been sentenced in absentia, of whom (42) have been sentenced to death. This makes a total of (128) people who have been sentenced to death. (23) people have been released on bail and (3447) people have already been released. These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
Lawyer Phoe Phyu, who followed cases of land seizure in ethnic regions, was sentenced by Botahtaung District Court on November 25. He was sentenced to serve 7 years in prison and pay a fine of 10,000 Kyats under Penal Code 124-A. He was arrested in Yangon by the junta on March 23, 2022, and was sentenced after 8 months of detainment.
Two additional charges have been brought against Tanintharyi Region Chief Minister Myint Maung, in November of 2022, this time under Penal Code Section 130-A. In November of 2021, he had been sentenced to 11 years of imprisonment under charges of Penal Code Section 505 B, Natural Disaster Management Law Section 25 and Penal Code Section 409. Myint Maung was arrested by the junta on February 10, 2021, and he has been held in solitary confinement in Dawei Prison to this day.
