Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

According to AAPP documentation, at least (786) houses and buildings have been sealed off by the junta between February 2021 and October 2022.  

Since the February 1, 2021, military coup and the emergence of the Spring Revolution, a total of (2519) people, pro-democracy activists and other civilians have been killed through military crackdowns following pro-democracy movements.          

Since the coup, a total of (12962) people are currently under detention, (1614) of whom are serving sentences. There are a total of (86) post-coup death row prisoners as of November 18, 2022. (121) people have been sentenced in absentia, of whom (42) have been sentenced to death. This makes a total of (128) people who have been sentenced to death. (22) people have been released on bail and (3291) people have already been released. These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.

On November 15, at 5:30 PM, an artillery shell fired by junta forces landed and exploded on a nursery school in Demoso Township, Kayah State. This resulted in 5-year-old Ma Tee being injured in her thigh. She did not receive treatment in time and died as a result of bleeding from her thigh wound. Her 8 family members were also injured due to the shelling. The family had come from Kone Thar Village to seek refuge in Demoso Township.

On November 15, at 10:30 PM, an artillery shell fired by IB-266 of the junta forces landed and exploded in front of Moe Hein Drinking Water Business building, in Kyaw Bote Ward, Hakha Town, Chin State. As a result, 14-year-old Shalom Van died instantly, while two men were seriously injured.
