Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

According to AAPP documentation, at least (780) houses and buildings have been sealed off by the junta between February 2021 and September 2022.  

Since the February 1, 2021, military coup and the emergence of the Spring Revolution, a total of (2404) people, pro-democracy activists and other civilians have been killed through military crackdown following pro-democracy movements.             

Since the coup, a total of (12806) people are currently under detention, (1612) of which are serving sentences. There are a total of (84) post-coup death row prisoners as of October 31, 2022. (121) people have been sentenced in absentia, of whom (42) have been sentenced to death. This makes a total of (126) who have been sentenced to death. (22) people have been released on bail and (3188) people have already been released. These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly. 

In the evening of October 30, 4 members of the Mandalay Strike Committee, Paing Nway Oo, Kaung Khant Zaw, Nay Ye and Hein Maung. As well as Kaliana (aka Yaw Gyi), a leader of the Mandalay Monks’ Union,  were arrested by junta forces. The 4 university students were rammed by a junta vehicle and also physically assaulted in the attack. 

On October 28, at 9:20 PM, junta LIB-351 and IB-60 opened fire with heavy weaponry. Some of the artillery shells landed and exploded in a pasture of Thit Cha Seik Village in Kyaukkyi Township, Bago Region. As a result, local villager Ye Min, who was working in the farm, died on the spot while his younger brother was injured.
