Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

According to AAPP documentation, at least (780) houses and buildings have been sealed off by the junta between February 2021 and September 2022.  

Since the February 1, 2021, military coup and the emergence of the Spring Revolution, a total of (2388) people, pro-democracy activists and other civilians have been killed through military crackdown following pro-democracy movements.             

Since the coup, a total of (12746) people are currently under detention, (1593) of which are serving sentences. There are a total of (84) post-coup death row prisoners as of October 24, 2022. (121) people have been sentenced in absentia, of whom (42) have been sentenced to death. This makes a total of (126) who have been sentenced to death. (22) people have been released on bail and (3179) people have already been released. These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly. 

In the morning of October 23, a 12-year-old called Hnin Ei Lwin from Sin Gone Taing Village was killed by artillery. Indiscriminate heavy weaponry was shot by a junta convoy carrying rations from Katha Township in Sagaing Region to Bhamo Township along the Ayeyarwady River.

In the evening of October 17, San Aye, a political prisoner detained in Pathein Prison, Ayeyarwady Region, died from lack of oxygen. San Aye was from No.5 Ward in Pathein Township and was arrested for anti-junta protests. He was charged under Counter-Terrorism Law Section-52 (a) and his family was not allowed to cremate his dead body.
