Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

According to AAPP documentation, at least (780) houses and buildings have been sealed off by Junta between February 2021 and September 2022.  

Since the February 1, 2021, military coup and the emergence of the Spring Revolution, a total of (2350) people, pro-democracy activists and other civilians have been killed through military crackdown following pro-democracy movements.             

Since the coup, a total of (12643) people are currently under detention and (1546) are serving sentences. There are a total of (84) post-coup death row prisoners as of October 13, 2022. (121) people have been sentenced in absentia, of whom (42) have been sentenced to death. This makes a total of (126) who have been sentenced to death. (22) people have been released on bail and (3176) people have already been released. These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly. 

On 11 October, at around 9:00 pm, two offices in Myoma ward, Tedim Township in Chin state, were set ablaze. Infantry Battalion 269 based in Tedim, used unprovoked artillery shelling in the area, killing Ninng Lian Vun from Lai Lui village with an artillery shell while she was sleeping. In addition to this, a man was hit and injured.

On 8 October, the armed wing of the junta arrested, tortured, and killed two scouting members, Ye Hnin Wai and Hlaing Zaw Oo, of the village Defence Group of Gar Ga Law village, Kanbalu township in Sagaing Region. They were arrested while they were on lookout for around 70 LID 367 junta soldiers leaving Zinn village next to the Mandalay-Myitkyina road. On the same day, their dead bodies were found with several injuries, on the road between Zinn village and Baw village.
