Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

According to AAPP documentation, at least (780) houses and buildings have been sealed off by Junta between February 2021 and September 2022.  

Since the February 1, 2021, military coup and the emergence of the Spring Revolution, a total of (2343) people, pro-democracy activists and other civilians have been killed through military crackdown following pro-democracy movements.             

Since the coup, a total of (12623) people are currently under detention and (1531) are serving sentences. There are a total of (84) post-coup death row prisoners as of October 11, 2022. (121) people have been sentenced in absentia, of whom (42) have been sentenced to death. This makes a total of (126) who have been sentenced to death. (22) people have been released on bail and (3176) people have already been released. These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly. 

On October 10 at 11 AM, Lal Ding Lian, who lived in East Kho Bway Ward in Matupi Township, Chin State, died as he stepped on mine while he was cleaning up a farm located near the Lal Myo Chaung Bridge. 

A former political prisoner, named Myo Min Oo, who was previously released from Dawei Prion in Tanintharyi Region as part of a prison release on October 20, 2021, was re-arrested at the office where he worked in Dawei Township on September 12, at around 4 pm. He was charged under Section 50(j) of the Counter-Terrorism Law. Myo Min Oo was a former chairman of the Dawei District Students’ Union, and was arrested for the first time in May 2021 after being accused of leading the strikes.
