Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

According to AAPP documentation, at least (760) houses and buildings have been sealed off by Junta between February 2021 and August 2022.
Since the February 1, 2021 military coup and the emergence of the Spring Revolution, a total of (2324) people, pro-democracy activists and other civilians have been killed through military crackdown following pro-democracy movements.
Since the coup, a total of (12540) people are currently under detention and (1493) are serving sentences. There are a total of (84) post-coup death row prisoners as of September 28, 2022. (121) people have been sentenced in absentia, of whom (42) have been sentenced to death. This makes a total of (126) who have been sentenced to death. (22) people have been released on bail and (3121) people have already been released. These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
On September 27, Htet Htet Khaing, the host of Ye Kyi Yar on BBC News Media Action, was sentenced by Insein Prison’s Special Court to 3 years in prison with hard labor. Htet Htet Khaing was sentenced under the Unlawful Association Law Section 17 (1). She had previously been sentenced to 3 years in prison with hard labor under Penal Code Section 505A, on September 15.
On September 25, a column of around 60 junta troops advanced towards Shwebo Town from Khin-U Town, Sagaing Region, and shot at 2 farmers in the fields on the side of a road near Myay Ni Sho Village. Kyaw San Myint died, while Ohn Shwe was shot in the thigh and seriously injured.
