Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

According to AAPP documentation, at least (760) houses and buildings have been sealed off by Junta between February 2021 and August 2022.  

Since the February 1, 2021 military coup and the emergence of the Spring Revolution, a total of  (2311) people, pro-democracy activists and other civilians have been killed through military crackdown following pro-democracy movements.             

Since the coup, a total of (12462) people are currently under detention and (1490) are serving sentences. There are a total of (84) post-coup death row prisoners as of September 22, 2022. (121) people have been sentenced in absentia, of whom (42) have been sentenced to death. This makes a total of (126) who have been sentenced to death. (22) people have been released on bail and (3114) people have already been released. These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly. 

Ye Soe Kyaw, a teacher from Htet Myat Thu Private High School in Lewe Township, Nay Pyi Taw, was sentenced by a Nay Pyi Taw Prison special court to 20 years in prison. Ye Soe Kyaw was sentenced under the Counter-Terrorism Law Section 50(J), on September 20. On January 5, junta forces arrested him while he was teaching at school, accusing him of supporting the PDF.

On September 18, Soe Linn Paing and Phoe Sal were farming near Wat Khot Village, Gway Kone Village Tract, Yesagyo Township, Magway Region when they were killed by junta forces who arrived in the afternoon.
