Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

According to AAPP documentation, at least (709) houses and buildings have been sealed off by Junta between February 2021 and July 2022.  

Since the February 1, 2021 military coup and the emergence of the Spring Revolution, a total of  (2185) people, pro-democracy activists and other civilians have been killed through military crackdown following pro-democracy movements.             

Since the coup, a total of (11994) people are currently under detention and (1380) are serving sentences. There are a total of 81 post-coup death row prisoners as of August 11, 2022. (121) people have been sentenced in absentia, of whom (42) have been sentenced to death. This makes a total of (123) who have been sentenced to death. (22) people have been released on bail and (3075) people have already been released. These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly. 

On August 10, at around 10 AM, junta forces fired artillery shells indiscriminately, with one of them landing  on a house in Hniarlawn Village, Hakha Township, Chin State. As a result, Pi Chia Hnem, who was cooking in the kitchen, died on the spot.

On July 13, Su Lat Thawdar, a 10th Grade student from Yangon was arrested at her home while holding an online class for Kaung For You Education. She was charged under Penal Code Section 505A and Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law Section 19 (A) by the junta.
