Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

According to AAPP documentation, at least (678) houses and buildings have been sealed off by Junta between February 2021 and June 2022.  

Since the February 1, 2021 military coup and the emergence of the Spring Revolution, a total of  (2111) people, pro-democracy activists and other civilians have been killed through military crackdown following pro-democracy movements. AAPP compiled and documented (12) fallen heroes today. These (12) fallen heroes, from Kanbalu Township and Khin-U Township in Sagaing Region, were killed on previous days, but documented today. This is the number verified by AAPP. The actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.              

As of July 21, 2022, a total of (11754) people are currently under detention. (1345) are serving sentences, of them (76) have been sentenced to death. (120) people have been sentenced in absentia, of whom (41) have been sentenced to death. This makes a total of (117) who have been sentenced to death. (22) people have been released on bail and (3066) people have already been released.     

A local named Moe Moe Aung, living in Ward 9 in Tamu Township, Sagaing Region, was arrested in the morning of July 19 by Junta soldiers. She was accused of being a member of the People Defence’s Force. 

Hnin Nway Lwin, who is a high school teacher at Myo Thar High School and involved in the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM), was arrested on July 15 at around 6:30 pm by the security forces of  Ngazun Township in Mandalay Region. 

AAPP will continue to inform on verified daily arrests, charges, sentences and fatalities in relation to the attempted coup, and update the lists with details of these alleged offences.
