Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

According to AAPP documentation, at least (678) houses and buildings have been sealed off by Junta between February 2021 and June 2022.  

Since the February 1, 2021 military coup and the emergence of the Spring Revolution, a total of  (2092) people, pro-democracy activists and other civilians have been killed through military crackdown following pro-democracy movements. AAPP compiled and documented (1) fallen heroes today. This (1) fallen hero, from Kayah State, was killed on a July 16, but documented today. This is the number verified by AAPP. The actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.              

As of July 19, 2022, a total of (11668) people are currently under detention. (1346) are serving sentences, of them (76) have been sentenced to death. (120) people have been sentenced in absentia, of whom (41) have been sentenced to death. This makes a total of (117) who have been sentenced to death. (21) people have been released on bail and (3047) people have already been released.     

Zaw Htet (aka Shwe Mann) and Nay Linn, who are teachers involved in the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) and living in Kengtung Town, Shan State, were arrested by the Junta on July 17. They were accused of teaching without permission and for allegedly inciting violence. After joining the CDM, they became English teachers. 

On the night of July 14, Thi Thi Swe, an archivist at the University of Computer Studies (Myeik); Ei Ei Phyo, a teacher at the Technological University (Myeik); Arkar Maung, a teacher at the Government Technical High School; and a teacher from No. 1 Basic Education High School in Myeik, were arrested by police and Military Security Affairs at Myeik Township, Tanintharyi Region. They were arrested when police were checking overnight guest registration of locals.
