Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

According to AAPP documentation, at least (678) houses and buildings have been sealed off by Junta between February 2021 and June 2022.  

Since the February 1, 2021 military coup and the emergence of the Spring Revolution, a total of  (2081) people, pro-democracy activists and other civilians have been killed through military crackdown following pro-democracy movements. AAPP compiled and documented (4) fallen heroes today. These (4) fallen heroes, from Pale Township in Sagaing Region, were killed on July 11, but documented today. This is the number verified by AAPP. The actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.              

As of July 13, 2022, a total of (11547) people are currently under detention. (1312) are serving sentences, of them (74) have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). (120) people have been sentenced in absentia, of whom (41) have been sentenced to death. This makes a total of (115) who have been sentenced to death. (21) people have been released on bail and (3045) people have already been released.     

On July 11, Mon State Chief Minister Dr. Aye Zan, who is already sentenced to 23 years imprisonment, was sentenced two more years under 130-a of the Penal Code by the Mawlamyine Township Court for alleged violations of the electoral laws. Dr. Aye Zan is detained at the Kyaikmaraw Prison. 

On July 4 at around 7 pm, Junta soldiers raided Gway Gone Village in Magway Region’s Yesagyo Township and fatally  shot  local villager, Win Naing Tun.
