Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

According to AAPP documentation, at least (678) houses and buildings have been sealed off by Junta between February 2021 and June 2022.
Since the February 1, 2021 military coup and the emergence of the Spring Revolution, a total of (2074) people, pro-democracy activists and other civilians have been killed through military crackdown following pro-democracy movements. AAPP compiled and documented (5) fallen heroes today. These (5) fallen heroes, from Yesagyo Township in Magway Region, Wetlet Township and Pale Township and Kyaukkyi Township in Bago Region, were killed on previous days, but documented today. This is the number verified by AAPP. The actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
As of July 8, 2022, a total of (11451) people are currently under detention. (1224) are serving sentences, of them (74) have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). (120) people have been sentenced in absentia, of whom (41) have been sentenced to death. This makes a total of (115) who have been sentenced to death. (21) people have been released on bail and (3045) people have already been released.
Myo Thandar Kyaw aka Athay Lay, who is a member of Maubin University Students’ Union, was sentenced to five years imprisonment under Sectiion 52(a) of the Counter-Terrorism Law by the special court in Pyapon Prison. She is a third year student majoring in Mathematics at Maubin University.
On July 7, the armed wing of the Junta raided and set fire to Mwae Tone Village and Min Village in Pale Township, Sagaing Region. During the incident, Tin Pe, aged 80 and from Mwae Tone Village, and Kyaw Han, aged 70 and from Min Village, were burnt alive as they were unable to run away.
