Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

According to AAPP documentation, at least (678) houses and buildings have been sealed off by Junta between February 2021 and June 2022.  

Since the February 1, 2021 military coup and the emergence of the Spring Revolution, a total of  (2053) people, pro-democracy activists and other civilians have been killed through military crackdown following pro-democracy movements. AAPP compiled and documented (13) fallen heroes today. These (13) fallen heroes, from Kyaukkyi Township in Kayin State, Nyaung-U Township in Mandalay Region, wetlet Township, Khin-U Township and Tamu Township in Sagaing Region, were killed on previous days, but documented today. This is the number verified by AAPP. The actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.              

As of July 1, 2022, a total of (11362) people are currently under detention. (1208) people have been sentenced in person, of them 74 have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). (120) people have been sentenced in absentia, of them 41 sentenced to death. This makes a total of (115) who have been sentenced to death. (21) people have been released on bail and (3044) people have already been released.     

Win Min Soe, who is the chairman of Phyu Sin Youth Charitable Association in Letpadan Town, Bago Region, was sentenced to ten years imprisonment by the special court in Thayarwady Prison. He was arrested for alleged relations with the PDF when a bomb exploded on October 31, 2021.  

Khin Nyo, who is secretary of the Women Working Committee for National League for Democracy in Tike Kone Ward in Nyaung-U Township, Mandalay Region, died in prison on June 28 at around 5:30 am due to deteriorating health conditions following her arrest on May 30, 2022.
