Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

According to AAPP documentation, at least (617) houses and buildings have been sealed off by Junta between February 2021 and May 2022.  

Since the February 1, 2021 military coup and the emergence of the Spring Revolution, a total of  (2011) people, pro-democracy activists and other civilians have been killed through military crackdown following pro-democracy movements. AAPP compiled and documented (4) fallen heroes today. These (4) fallen heroes, from Gangaw Township in Magway Region and Kanbalu Township in Sagaing Region, were killed on previous days, but documented today. This is the number verified by AAPP. The actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.              

As of June 23, 2022, a total of (11201) people are currently under detention. (1195) people have been sentenced in person, of them 74 have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). (120) people have been sentenced in absentia, of them 41 sentenced to death. This makes a total of (115) who have been sentenced to death. (21) people have been released on bail and (3042) people have already been released.     

On June 19 at around 7 am, a trishaw driver, Win Thint (aka Shay Gyi), was shot five times and killed by Pyu Saw Htee members. Pyu Saw Htee members followed and shot Win Thint (aka Shay Gyi) five times when he failed to stop his trishaw at a Pyu Saw Htee checkpoint in Myoma 12/B Ward, near Par Hel Bridge in Tamu Town.  

On the night of June 13, See Sein Toe Petrol Station in Htan Tabin Myoma Village, Kanbalu Township, Sagaing Region, was raided by 5 Pyu Saw Htee members. The owners of the business, Kyaw Aung and Myint Kyi, who were husband and wife, were stabbed in the neck and killed.
