Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

According to AAPP documentation, at least (617) houses and buildings have been sealed off by the Junta between February 2021 and May 2022.  

As of June 6, 2022, (1905) people are now confirmed killed by this junta coup. AAPP compiled and documented (18) fallen heroes today. These (1905) fallen heroes from Hpa-An Township in Kayin State, Kanpetlet Township in Chin State, Kyaukpadaung Township in Mandalay Region, Yinmarbin Township, Kani Township, Kanbalu Township, Wetlet Township and Ayadaw Township in Sagaing Region and Saw Township in Magway Region were killed on previous days, but documented today. This is the number verified by AAPP. The actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.              

As of June 6, 2022, a total of (10962) people are currently under detention. (1117) people have been sentenced in person, of them 73 have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). (120) people have been sentenced in absentia, of them 41 sentenced to death. This makes a total of  (114) who have been sentenced to death. (21) people have been released on bail and (3035) people were already released.     

Nyan Win, a third-year student from Hpa-An University majoring in Mathematics, who was involved in the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM), was shot, arrested and tortured to death by the armed wing of the junta on June 4.

The armed wing of the junta stationed near Koe Htaung Bolt Village (in Sagaing Region’s Kanbalu Township) opened fire with heavy weaponry on the night of June 1. One of the artillery shells from the attack landed on a house and killed a family of 3: 8-year old Zin Bhone, his mother Lae Lae Soe, and his grandfather Soe Kyaw.
