Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

According to AAPP documentation, at least (617) houses and buildings have been sealed off by the Junta since the 2021 coup up until May 2022.  

As of June 2, 2022, (1883) people are now confirmed killed by this junta coup. AAPP compiled and documented (5) fallen heroes today. These (5) fallen heroes from Kanbalu Township in Sagaing Region were killed on May 31 and documented today. This is the number verified by AAPP. The actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue adding as and when.              

As of June 2, 2022, a total of (10870) people are currently under detention. (1087) people have been sentenced in person, of them 72 have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). (120) people have been sentenced in absentia, of them 41 sentenced to death in absentia. In total (113) sentenced to death, in person and absentia. (21) people have been released on bail and (3035) people were already released.     

In the early morning of May 31, junta soldiers raided Kan Gyi(West) Village in Kanbalu Township, Sagaing Region. They arrested and killed 5 villagers: Maung Soe, Kyaw Myo Thu, Taw Shaung, Tun and Win Thura, who were guarding the village.

On May 31, at 7 PM, Maung Ye Paing from Ka Nyin Kyoe Village, Kyaukkyi Township, Bago Region was arrested by 5 policemen, who accused him of having connections to the Karen National Union (KNU).
