Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

According to AAPP documentation, at least (570) houses and buildings have been sealed off by the Junta since the 2021 coup up until April 2022.  

As of May 20, 2022, (1851) people are now confirmed killed by this junta coup. AAPP compiled and documented (1) fallen hero today. This (1) fallen heroes from Bago Township in Bago Region was killed on January 26 and documented today. This is the number verified by AAPP. The actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue adding as and when.              

As of May 20, 2022, a total of (10716) people are currently under detention. (1077) people have been sentenced in person, of them 72 have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). 1979 are evading arrest warrants. 120 people have been sentenced in absentia, of them 41 sentenced to death in absentia. In total 113 sentenced to death, in person and absentia. The exact identities and total figure remains to be verified, but we will continue to confirm the recently released.     

On November 4, 2021, Dein Daung, a 56-year-old political activist was arrested in Kyauk Mee Village in Patheingyi Township, Mandalay Region where he had been evading arrest. He was sentenced a first time to three years of imprisonment under Section 505(A) of the Penal Code, to which the Mandalay District Court just added 10 more years under the Counter-terrorism Law on May 16.

Aung Khaing Phyo, who sells betel nut at (19) Ward in Hlaingtharya Township in Yangon Region, was arrested by the armed wing of the Junta on May 14 on the basis of alleged connections with the PDF.
